Cozumel

This is the highway between PaaMul and Playa Del Carmen about 08:30 AM.
On our way to the ferry to go to Cozumel.

Here we are in line waiting for the opening of the gates so we can board the ferry.

We are still waiting. Chuck had me bring out chairs, and I made us a sandwich for break-lunch while we waited. There were lots of very beauty-t-full butterfly's around and Pancho made busy trying to chase them.

Gates were opened, and we move ahead to be loaded.

Inward we go.

And then we are in and parked. Notice Chuck and Pancho sitting in the truck.

Last truck in.

Now we are waiting for the rest of the cars, motorcycles and trucks. I left about this time as the fumes in there from the exhaust was pretty bad.

This is on the deck looking out.

Here is Pancho and I enjoying the Ferry ride. Notice what a good little traveler he is. He is so sweet. Notice the guy over at the railing. Pancho would not let him come near me. He tried to kill that man just a few minutes before the picture was taken. Man stays away from the mom.

We felt very safe in knowing that none of the life boats had props.

After awhile Pancho decided that since he is on a cruise, he might as well lay in the sun and get a tan.

Here is Cozumel.

This is Playa Del Carmen.

You guessed it, that's a cruise ship in Cozumel.

And. It is the Carnival Conquest.

This is the docking for Trucks and Vehicles coming from the Ferry's.

All little vehicles get to go first.

Ha-So says Pancho. Dad!! Where is DAD!!! He must drive this thing. OK, so, no dad yet, I will watch and wait and make sure NO ONE touches OUR/MY Truck until Dad comes back to drive. MOM, where is MOM??? Oh my, the sun is in my eyes, I can not see much....But I will remain diligent in my quest to protect Truck!!

This is chuck Geo Caching. Notice the swamp. I refused to go into swamps. I stayed and took pictures. Oh, he did find the cache, was there any doubt he would?? Yeah Chuck, hold them shorts up so they do not get wet. Actually, it was not a swamp, it is road side water hold from all the rain in the last couple of days and nights.

SAND!!! A Hugh pile. ....and all his!! Actually this is stuff they are using to build John and Angelica's house with. We were letting him play in this, however, now we can not. Not only did they move a bunch of it, but he got a rash from it also. He just came back from the vet again today. Third vet visit since Mexico. His manhood taken, then mange treatment, and now a rash for allergies. Man, good thing Mexican vets are affordable.

Now does this look like he is having a good time or what!!!

This is a beautiful statue they are building around by the People ferry entrance in Cozumel.

This is a beach picture of the other side of the island.

Another one. This is a bar/restaurant on the East side of the island.

Another picture of the East side. The beaches here and water are just beautiful.

Well you all, that is all the pictures for now. I will be taking more soon and posting them as we go. Oh, I have got to mention something that I learned today at the vets office. Did you all know that mange is transferred from Parent to pup's?? I did not know that either. So if your going to be buying a puppy, ask about if either of the parents or grandparents have ever had mange. Pancho got mange a month back, so we took him to the vet. When I took him to this vet to see if this rash was more mange or something else, she pointed out to me that Pancho had this mange from his parents. She pointed out that because he only had a patch here and there, it was hereditary and not from the street or another dog. When they get it from the ground or another dog, it starts all over their bodies, not just in a little patch or two. Mange can be found in hot climates mostly and is a mite. These mites are transferred by blood from parents. I found this interesting and thought you all should know so in case anyone is puppy shopping, it would be a good thing to look at before breeding your dog.
Other than this new information the day was pretty wonderful. I went to Angelica's mom house and showed her some more watercolor tricks and then came home. Thursday we are going to paint in the morning, and in the afternoon go snorkeling and swimming with Angelica, Rosealba, and the kids. Should be lots of fun!!!
So until we post again in a few days, enjoy your lives you all. I am missing my kids and wish they were her with me. They would be amazed at how much this place has grown and changed in the last ten years.
Talk at you all later.

PaaMul

Hello again, It is I, the mouth. First off, I need to say I am sorry for my comment about fat people who do not walk. I did not even think about people who have had bad things happen to them and are on drugs that cause problems (like steroids) and people who have health problems, or any of that stuff. I guess I was actually thinking of the big couple I saw being sitting there being biked. Yeah, I guess when one engages there mouth without using their brain, there can be hurt feelings, and for that I am truly sorry. No one blasted me about my comment, but a real nice lady did sort of remind me that there are other's out there who have been though some tragic stuff and can not help what has happen to them. Like her husband. He was a big buff guy and was in a head on car accident. Seven spinal surgeries later and still on steroids and disability for the rest of his life. His muscle tone is gone, and the steroids have put weight on him. He will not let her push him in the wheel chair as no one can see his scar's, they just think he is fat. So, by her leading me to see something I did not even think of, I have to say to all that I am sorry if I offended anyone. I just did not think....as usual.
So now that I have graveled at everyones feet, and feel about as big as a bug, let me continue with a picture history of what is going on here.

This is a cool sight along the road. It is going into a resort area. I am sorry, I can not spell the name if it is not in front of me, but it is like Xplala or something like that. Needless to say that is so spelled wrong.

Playa Del Carmen ferry entrance

This is Paco. He sits on his own little porch outside his palapa and is so sweet.

Now this is a face you just have to kiss. I did. He is a wonderful boy.

This is right in front of Paco's house here in PaaMul. Beautiful is it not.

This is just to the side of Paco's house, here in Paamul

This is the ocean from another angel.

How do you like this view. Beautiful is it not.
However, I have to say that in this park there are tourist bus tours that come in when the cruse ships are in and it can get so full of people. There is a dive shop here also. There are lots of Taxies that bring people in for the use of the ocean and pool here, so it can get overran with people.

These next shots are just ones I have taken of the park. You will see lots of flowers and plants as I love the variation in the leaves. I always have it in the back of my mind to use them in a watercolor.

Cool bananas growing.

These flowers are very different, I just had to get them in the picture. The leaves above are the same tree these flowers are on.

Oh my gosh, If you all could just smell these flowers you would just faint. They are such a sweet wonderful fragrance.

This little girl on the step is Annie. She is a doll, but she does not like Pancho. He is to rough for her and he moves to fast. She is to delicate for that sort of stuff.

These are the rental palapas at the park. $75.00 per night.

This is a cool mural on someones Palapa.

I just love this flower pot. When I find one I am buying it.

I am going to buy one of these planters to when I find them. Yeah, I know, full timing RVers really need this junk, well, someday we will not be full timing and I will want them for my house. So I am "saving" up.

This is our RV and truck and part of the row we are in.

This is the rest of the row. Notice how close everyone is. I can tell you for a fact also that there are some really rude people who come here that get all bent when they want more room and there is none.

I love this sign.

This is Playa Del Carmen when we were waiting for the ferry.

Playa del carmen from the other side of the dock by the ferry.

Back to PaaMul. This is one of my favorite pictures.

This is Playa Del Carmen also.

So this is it for our picture stroll. We will post more in a few days. Tomorrow we are taking the truck ferry and moving the RV to the Island of Cozumel for a couple of weeks. We will send more pictures and update's then.
See ya all later!!

Tulum Ruins Beach

Testing.
Just wanted to try this out, let me know what you think. Not the best video quality but it does work. This is the beach at the Tulum Ruins.

Coba 02/07/2007

Hello and good tidings to all. Today sit back and enjoy your tour of the Coba Ruins in Q.Roo Mexico.

These pictures are a little bit out of order, but what the heck, at least they are there!!
We rented bikes for the trek in. Chuck had been here about twenty years before and remembered it as a long walk. Now they have bikes you can rent for 30 Pecos ($3.00 U.S.) so we took them up on it. The bikes have been rode long and hard, however, they keep the chain oiled and the tires are big and fill correctly, so it actually was a nice ride. I for one was very happy that we rented the bikes as it would of taken us most of the day just to walk the damn thing. The bikes made it much faster and after a long climb up the stair's to the ruin, that breeze feels wonderful coming back.
They also had bicycle taxi's . There is a seat for two adults and a kid could fit there also if it is a small kid, and for 95 Pecos ($9.50 U.S.) they will peddle your ass in. We only saw a few doing that. One was a very pregnant woman, the other woman very fat (she needed to walk) another overweight couple, and a couple with a sleeping tot.
People, take it from a former fatty, WALK or RIDE your own bike. Even when I was fat, I got around on my own two leg's. Yes, you sweat, Yes your knee's hurt, YES your thigh's slap together making a wonder chaffing for your discomfort, but come on...we did it to OURSELVES. I just felt sorry for those poor bike taxi people using there leg's to propel something like 500 pounds around on a bike seat. Man, I bet when they see fatties coming they all shiver with fright knowing that is IT. Course, the trail is flat, very well cared for and pretty dam smooth and no "hill's". Yes I know that in polite public no one talks about other peoples weight problems, but since I was once a queen of obesity, I feel I have the privilege of mentioning this. So don't get mad at me, get even by having Gastric-bi pass and walk allot....on your own two legs. It is amazing how much better your going to feel and all that junk...
Now, onward and upward with our blog.

Cobá - ¨Water stirred by wind¨

Built between two lakes during the Classic Period (600-900 A.D.) it was at one time a very large city spread over 80 square kilometers. The main pyramid, Nohoch Mul meaning 'large hill', is 42 meters tall (138 feet) and is the highest in the Yucatan peninsula.

The Maya prospered here between 400 to 1100 A.D. In its heyday nearly 50,000 people lived within Cobá confines, but despite its size it is not visited as frequently as some other major Maya sites. It stands isolated and off the coast, between the coastal town of Tulum, and Valladolid in the state of Yucatan.

Climbing the 120 stairs to the top of the Grand Pyramid at Cobá is well worth the effort. Standing here one can see over the jungle canopy for miles, unexcavated temple mounds peeking above the trees.

This is me in the door way of the temple ruin. Lots of flights up. (If your ticked at me cause of my bike comment, you have my permission to print this out and throw darts at my image)

This was their gaming area. That round thing up there was their "hoop" that they would throw there ball through. It must of been interesting to watch this as there is another one on the other side just like this so each team has there own hoop. Sort of like basketball nowadays only harder.

I am not sure what this building was, but I liked the setting. These stones were put here in 750A.D.

These very pretty little flowers were growing all along the jungle. They have a real pretty smell and make your walk very enjoyable. They like dense, wet ground.

I am not sure what this was used for, but I have a guess it was for a priest. Notice how steep the walls are. NO dang bad spirits are going to be climbing them there walls. There are stairs on the front, but the sun was not right for a picture and the stairs are blocked off so no one can climb it any longer.

Again, not a sign to tell you what these building's are for. They want you to rent a guide to explain these things to you. We however do not want to spend $20.00 on a guide and have it take all day, so we whizz by satisfied that we got to even see and be here.

This place looks like a castle to me and I kept imagining dragons lurking in the tree's and looking for a unicorn. Never saw any.

There it is. The big one. The picture does not do it justice. This is the tallest Mayan structure
in 750A.D. It is for region, speech's and sacrifices.

Here is Chuck going up. Notice the rope behind him. He says that is new, it was not there 20 years ago.

I wanted to use that guy down there as a perspective for you all. This is taken looking down from where we were. Notice the step's. They sort of run into each other looking down. They are narrow but not to bad step down, long as you do one step, then put foot down, another step, then foot down, etc. etc. There is no going step over step down these things. The rope would be great for a nice butt slide and hanging on to the rope. Especially if your sight impaired or if you have polio like my sis. Then it would be wonderful. However, for someone like me, the rope was useless as it is anchored down every few feet. Some people do not realize that some of us people are just klutzy and need the rope in an upright position. However, all is well and I did not fall.

That's it for this one.........
