Friends and Cozumel

Guess it would figure that the day we leave is the day I post picture's of our time in Cozumel. Guess that is cause the connection here is great. I will have to tell you about that in the end of this. For now, we thought we would show you all some of Cozumel and our wonderful friends and their children.

This is Tamara and John. Tammy is eight. At this place we are at their private beach. Unless you know someone who owns property here, the public will never see these beaches. The road is guarded by the police and tourist and locals are not allowed in. You HAVE to show your title to the property to get in, and have a special card from the mayors office. (or something like that, I know the card thing is new, John did not have one, but a call to the mayor changed that, he sent a police car down to let the police man on duty know John had permission to go in) I was impressed by John.

This is John and Angelica Flynn. They are a cute couple are they not!! OK, you can not tell yet cause of the sunglasses, hold on a minute and I will take care of that....NEXT PICTURE!!!

OK, the sun glasses stayed on, but now you can get a better gander at them. That is Tammy in the towel, John, Juan Diego and Angelica. Juan Diego is an active six year old and to get him to sit for a minute for a picture was a great fleet for John. Juan was busy digging a HUGH hole in the sand.

This is sunset over where John and Angelica are building their new house. This is where Chuck and I stayed. Beautiful is it not.

This is a sunset on another day. Gosh, it is so pretty.

This is the entrance to a place called Coconuts. It is a bar and grill on the highest point on the island. There is bra's, panties and tee-shirts all over the place from parting people. The place is very pretty. It is also a place where their was a Geo Cache. (Eat you heart out Val and Dwight)

This is a picture of Coconuts (the palapa) from the beach side. Only hill in Cozumel.

This is another restaurant at the East side of the island. Just wanted to show you all a pretty picture.

Now, only in Mexico could you call a place Senor Iguana's and offer FREE PARKING. boy oh boy, that would make me run there!!! (the free parking that is) Chuck and I did a Geo Cache there and then had a couple of Grouper tacos. Not bad, not bad. Salsa was way to hot for a normal person (yeah, chuck thought it was great, even had the waiter bring him another bowl of it) and the tacos were a bit greasy, but not bad at all. Oh, those people up there, they were from the Cruise ship. They had hired a Taxi to take them around and show them the island. That Taxi driver will get a HUGE tip as he was making sure they were going to all the places that do not serve a weak drink. They were pretty happy when we met them. This was a nine in the morning. Yeah, it's five o'clock somewhere!!

One needs a big bottle of beer to make an Iguana drink and still stand!!!

Hay, look!!! That is our house. Notice the red Volkswagen. We went to a thing where they try and sell you a vacation package. You get a free meal and a free car. So we got both. Saved our diesel for a couple of days and helped a friend get the money for bringing in a pigeon...I mean perspective client.

Now this is a really cool stature they are building on the main street of Cozumel. Up closer is is so detailed. Lots of fish, turtles, sea life, It is just an beautiful piece. John and Angelica should put one at the entrance of there house. (I want the rest of you to know that as soon as John sees this last sentence, he is going to roll his eyes and say NO WAY Dee Dee!!)

Double eagles at the entrance of the ferries.

This is a working light house. Cozumel now has three of them.

The road into Temascal Sweat Lodge. Let me tell you that this is NOT as bad as we walked in to get there. Yes, there was a Geo Cache down there. We walked in mud and water up to our knees in places. I thought chuck was joking when he told me to be on the look out for a crock, but afterwards when we were talking to John, I learned he had be serious!!! I can tell you that I was not a happy camper during this mud hike. Pancho was not either when we got home cause he got a bath. He could of killed chuck for that!!

Temascal Sweat Lodge. This is the only operating spiritual & cleansing spa on the island. It was not open when we were there. They only open when the tourist ships are in.

So this is a fast tour of Cozumel. Maybe I can get chuck to post a picture of Pancho on a boogie board in the water with me. That was fun. I think Pancho even liked it.
We left Cozumel this morning and are outside of a town called something with a V. I (Valladolid) would have to get the map to spell it, and since that is in the truck, and it is dark out, there are flying bitters out there, that is NOT going to happen....me going out to get the map that is. Just take my word for it, we are not in Cozumel. We went to the town and took pictures of an old church, then went out to dinner at the restaurant here. Very good food and at a reasonable price. ($6.00 per plate, I had Mayan Chicken and Chuck had roast pork with garlic)
Tomorrow we are going to a ruin (Ekbalam), then the next day, we are going to Chichén-Itza. Yeah, I know, I need my map. Oh well, you all will have to wait a day for that to happen. Better yet, don't hold your breath and I will give you all pictures of where we are AND the correct spellings on our next post. See, I try to please you all!!!
Until then, take care of the ones you love and remember to tell your family and friends how special they are to you. You never know what will happen 20 minutes down the road...
So until then, to our friends and family, we love ya all!!! To our New friends, we almost love you all .... (ha ha ha....I am such a shit!!)

Carnaval in Cozumel

Carnaval 2007
from February 14th through the 21st
Carnaval in Cozumel was way fun. Oh, sorry for not posting for so long. There was something going on with the connection between sky and earth so it was a bit touchy for a few day's there. Since I (the wonderful wife) am not the technical person in this family, I can not tell you what was wrong. However, I can say I got to experience lots of colorful language from my sweet hubby and watched him demonstrate lots of control (like not smashing the computer to bits) while he "talked" to the computer. This morning he got up at 3:30 to put the pictures on. Yeah, sort of early don't ya all think?? See how dedicated he is!!!

Ok, back to the Carnaval. It was fun and I was surprised at the family atmosphere. I would of loved for you all to see this in person. These costumes are so beauty-T-ful. The work that went into them is amazing. Besides feathers, glitter and beads, they are heavy.

Tamara and her friend at Carnaval

Juan Diego and his "HO" at the Carnaval. Yes, he knows her or she would not be kissing him.....No Way!

Can you image wearing this for hours marching and prancing down the town?

Watching these tall people was amazing. They almost touched the wires overhead. Ok, not quite, but it sounded good!!

Even little men were into these costumes. Great is he not!!

I have got to tell you all this was one of my favorites. The picture is not doing it justice. There had to be over 200 peacock feathers on this. Being I love peacocks, this got my attention double. When she passed us, she had to stop for a bit and I really got to study this costume. Even the back is plastered with peacock feathers, four different shades of red fluffy feathers and all the seams are double stitched with small feathers around the big ones. Lots and lots of work.

Nice picture Chuck.

I know you all have noticed, but I got to point it out anyway. Notice this costume is so heavy and elaborate that she is pushing it along?? She is stuck to the back of it, and the whole thing is on wheels. She has to take baby steps in it, and she was dancing while she did this also. Over two hours of this, in heels.

This one was very pretty. Gold, silver and sparkly!!

OK, these were the NASTY guys. This is the worse it got when it came to nasty. These guys were showing there butt cheeks (notice the HUGH g-string on the one in white??) Rubbing them self's and doing "Pole" dancing like they were whores. Notice the beers? Everyone of them were drunk. It was so funny. At first I did not realize they were men. I thought they were women from the red light district, but then it was pointed out to me to look closer. Hay, there was a LOT going on and a lot to see...anyone could of made the mistake!!! However, as they got closer, it became apparent they were not women.

Chuck in the hat and John in the back. Notice the guys face's. I think this is when the beer float come by. Not only is it the beer float, it has on there good looking women dancing in little bitty bathing suits. You could even see their butt cheeks. The guys liked that!!

This is our wonderful friend John. He is a happy sort of fella.

Believe it or not, this is Angelica's MOM. yeah, not only is she beautiful, she has the most wonderful personally also. Smart and funny and kind. Loves dogs and has her own little rescue thing going on. Plus, she has food in her car and she feds the street dogs. She is single.

Your truly lifting up one of the guys dress. He thought I wanted to pose for a picture. he he he

This guy was so funny and to make it even better, women were putting dollars in his g-string!!!

Yep, me again. This guy also thought I wanted to pose with a picture, He had a better female body than all of us, so I was exposing the truth.

This was funny. See the guys dressed like women. They would take men from the side lines and jump up and down and yell "woe, woe, woe" as they rubbed against them. It was so funny. The tourist of course loved it, and the people who lived there always get a kick out of it.

Look at this guys custom. What a thing to see. I have to say however, that none of the men walked around in heels with costumes on like the women. They all rode in floats.

This was part of the royal court. It was so nice the way they did this float. The attending people on the sides of the float, and the people in the back were dancing to MaDonnas Vogue song, "Strick a pose". They were all in perfect unison. The customs were great and the whole production was so wonderful. They had probably about 20 attendants in the back, matched pairs of men and women doing the dancing in the back also. It had to be one of the best floats going.

Hay, there is a picture of the girls in the beer float. Only chuck got a picture of them on the last night. The first night they did not have these sashs on there suits.

Great light show with this float. (notice the beer)

Man, that is the closest John and I have ever gotten to each other. Even Juan Diego is going for it!!! Actually, he wanted his ball back.

The hippy van again.

This is the princess float. She (the princess) is on the other side, but these children were just dancing up a storm. It was very nice.

The queen. I dont know why they did not have the king and queen together.

This was great. Real beer he is drinking. He was in a diaper to.

These flames on these customs were great.

Well you all, that is our tour of Carnaval 2007 here in Cozumel. If Chuck can get some pictures posted of the ocean and stuff around here, then maybe next time you can get a gander at the town and area. We leave here next week to head onto Merida and beyond. So until a few days from now. See ya all later. Tell your friends and family you love them cause you might not ever get the chance to one day.
Love to all
Chuck, DeeDee and Pancho.

Cozumel

This is the highway between PaaMul and Playa Del Carmen about 08:30 AM.
On our way to the ferry to go to Cozumel.

Here we are in line waiting for the opening of the gates so we can board the ferry.

We are still waiting. Chuck had me bring out chairs, and I made us a sandwich for break-lunch while we waited. There were lots of very beauty-t-full butterfly's around and Pancho made busy trying to chase them.

Gates were opened, and we move ahead to be loaded.

Inward we go.

And then we are in and parked. Notice Chuck and Pancho sitting in the truck.

Last truck in.

Now we are waiting for the rest of the cars, motorcycles and trucks. I left about this time as the fumes in there from the exhaust was pretty bad.

This is on the deck looking out.

Here is Pancho and I enjoying the Ferry ride. Notice what a good little traveler he is. He is so sweet. Notice the guy over at the railing. Pancho would not let him come near me. He tried to kill that man just a few minutes before the picture was taken. Man stays away from the mom.

We felt very safe in knowing that none of the life boats had props.

After awhile Pancho decided that since he is on a cruise, he might as well lay in the sun and get a tan.

Here is Cozumel.

This is Playa Del Carmen.

You guessed it, that's a cruise ship in Cozumel.

And. It is the Carnival Conquest.

This is the docking for Trucks and Vehicles coming from the Ferry's.

All little vehicles get to go first.

Ha-So says Pancho. Dad!! Where is DAD!!! He must drive this thing. OK, so, no dad yet, I will watch and wait and make sure NO ONE touches OUR/MY Truck until Dad comes back to drive. MOM, where is MOM??? Oh my, the sun is in my eyes, I can not see much....But I will remain diligent in my quest to protect Truck!!

This is chuck Geo Caching. Notice the swamp. I refused to go into swamps. I stayed and took pictures. Oh, he did find the cache, was there any doubt he would?? Yeah Chuck, hold them shorts up so they do not get wet. Actually, it was not a swamp, it is road side water hold from all the rain in the last couple of days and nights.

SAND!!! A Hugh pile. ....and all his!! Actually this is stuff they are using to build John and Angelica's house with. We were letting him play in this, however, now we can not. Not only did they move a bunch of it, but he got a rash from it also. He just came back from the vet again today. Third vet visit since Mexico. His manhood taken, then mange treatment, and now a rash for allergies. Man, good thing Mexican vets are affordable.

Now does this look like he is having a good time or what!!!

This is a beautiful statue they are building around by the People ferry entrance in Cozumel.

This is a beach picture of the other side of the island.

Another one. This is a bar/restaurant on the East side of the island.

Another picture of the East side. The beaches here and water are just beautiful.

Well you all, that is all the pictures for now. I will be taking more soon and posting them as we go. Oh, I have got to mention something that I learned today at the vets office. Did you all know that mange is transferred from Parent to pup's?? I did not know that either. So if your going to be buying a puppy, ask about if either of the parents or grandparents have ever had mange. Pancho got mange a month back, so we took him to the vet. When I took him to this vet to see if this rash was more mange or something else, she pointed out to me that Pancho had this mange from his parents. She pointed out that because he only had a patch here and there, it was hereditary and not from the street or another dog. When they get it from the ground or another dog, it starts all over their bodies, not just in a little patch or two. Mange can be found in hot climates mostly and is a mite. These mites are transferred by blood from parents. I found this interesting and thought you all should know so in case anyone is puppy shopping, it would be a good thing to look at before breeding your dog.
Other than this new information the day was pretty wonderful. I went to Angelica's mom house and showed her some more watercolor tricks and then came home. Thursday we are going to paint in the morning, and in the afternoon go snorkeling and swimming with Angelica, Rosealba, and the kids. Should be lots of fun!!!
So until we post again in a few days, enjoy your lives you all. I am missing my kids and wish they were her with me. They would be amazed at how much this place has grown and changed in the last ten years.
Talk at you all later.
